Charles advocates for the immigration consulting industry and access to justice in Canada. He is a former president of the Organization of Professional Immigration Consultants (OPIC), a predecessor of CAPIC. He was appointed by the former Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, the Honourable Denis Coderre, to a special Ministerial Advisory Committee on Regulating Immigration Consultants. He was also on the original blue-chip Immigration Certificate Program advisory panel to Seneca College in Toronto, and has lectured on Canadian immigration practice and procedure at the College.
Charles is the recipient of the 2007 Leadership Award from Seneca College and the Lifetime Contribution to the Immigration Industry Award from the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants. He is also an Honorary Lifetime Member of CAPIC, and a member of the Canadian Bar Association (Immigration Law Section), the Ontario Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
